Inge de Graaf, a postdoctoral fellow specializing in hydrology in the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering, recently presented groundbreaking research on global water resources at the fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union. The research, completed by de Graaf during her PhD study at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, finds that some of the world’s groundwater resources could be depleted before the year 2050, with resources in India, southern Europe, and parts of the U.S. in particular being put at great risk by human consumption.
